Tonight's (November 17) episode of The X Factor was the third time in a row judge Robbie Williams was nowhere to be seen, leaving Nile Rodgers to mentor his remaining singers.

In his defence, Robbie is contractually obliged to be on the other side of the world right now, with his South American solo tour taking up all of his time.

However, a lot of viewers posting on Twitter aren't too impressed by Robbie's lack of commitment, with many of those asking why he was ever brought in as a judge in the first place.

Should he have signed up for the 2018 show?

Last week's eliminated act Misunderstood have admitted that Robbie's absence made a "difference" to their experience on the show.

"It was a difference. Robbie Williams in itself as an entity, he is such a big character," they explained. "So of course if you go somewhere and that person is not there anymore, the energy is going to be different."

Misunderstood went on to add that the judge was "shocked" about them being voted out of the competition and apologised to them on a Skype call for not being present.

"But he also knows that we understand that this is the music industry, this is what happens, he has to go on tour," they continued. "Him not being here wasn't the reason we went home."

The X Factor returns tomorrow (November 18) on ITV.
