X Factor: Performing An Adele Song Is The ‘Kiss Of Death’

Simon Cowell has had his fill of Adele ‘copycats’ on The X Factor, and is reportedly axing any hopeful who uses her amazing hit ‘Hello’ as their audition track.

Eek.

According to the Daily Star, the big boss will ‘boot off’ anyone who performs the hit single, with Dermot O’Leary saying Adele impressions are the ‘kiss of death’.

You have been warned.

The site reports that Dermot, who’s taking over from last year’s hosts Olly Murs and Caroline Flack as he makes his return to the show, has explained: “A lot of people do Adele and you want to take them aside and go: ‘What are you doing? Have you lost your mind?’

“Simon puts his head in his hands. It has sort of been a sport for me.”

Away from which audition songs to avoid, Dermot spoke about why he originally left the show, revealing: “I thought Simon wanted me to leave and Simon thought I wanted to leave. So I left.

“We never really talked. It is like that great line in Good Will Hunting where Matt Damon says: ‘I am Irish, I will get used to being wrong for the rest of my life.’

“As soon as we sat down Simon went: ‘I thought you wanted to leave,’ and then it became like a rom-com. And it was like: ‘Oh, you!’”
