The X Factor viewers were left furious tonight (November 18) after a shock elimination.

The public vote left Shan and the duo of Acacia and Aaliyah in the bottom two, with the acts having to go head-to-head in a sing-off.

After their performances, it was down to Ayda Field to cast the deciding vote, but the newbie judge instead sent it to deadlock, leaving their fates to be determined by the public.

Much to the shock of the studio audience and Simon Cowell, it was Shan who received the least amount of votes from the public and was sent crashing out of the tournament.

With many believing that Shan was one of the better talents in the show, let alone deserving to be in the bottom two, viewers expressed their anger on Twitter.

One viewer tweeted: "Huge talent out above a run of poor acts that are going nowhere. We've seen it before - but Shan I think is above others who have been sent packing this early before. Astoundingly poor decision."

"While another wrote: "Actually Fuming! Can't believe @ShanOfficially has left #XFactor Ayda has clearly chose them because they are Robbies, they are not a patch on Shan! Absolute joke."

However, this won't be the last audiences see of Shan, because a stunned Cowell decided to bend the rules and allow her to join the rest of the contestants when they go on tour.

The X Factor airs on ITV at 8pm.
