X Factor Slammed For 'Staged' Audition Gatecrash Scenes

The X Factor has come under fire for being “desperate” and “staged” after last night’s episode saw a hopeful gatecrash another act’s audition.

Kirsty Murphy barged into girl group Remention’s audition after apparently becoming concerned that she wouldn’t get a chance to sing in front of the judges.

The 21-year-old dance teacher was praised by Simon Cowell for having the “balls” to pull off the stunt, with the judges allowing her to perform Alicia Keys’ ‘If I Ain’t Got You’.

Kirsty got three ‘yeses’, with Sharon Osbourne being the only judge to say no ‘due to pitching issues’.

Afterwards, Shazza said: “When she first came in I was a bit frightened actually. She walked in and came right over to the desk and I was thinking, ‘Oh my god, alert, alert!’

“But she was ballsy! It takes a lot to do that.”

Kirsty said of her behaviour: “I was with my mum and we saw a door labelled ‘Judges Room’ in front of us. I said to my mum, ‘I’m just going to go in there’.

“Me and mum were like ninjas and I thought while the security were distracted, this was my chance. I ran round the back of the audition space, through the curtain to where the producers were sat.

“I could see the judges but I can’t remember properly what I said to them, I remember I just broke down crying and kept asking them ‘please can I sing?‘”

Kirsty’s antics may have impressed the judges but viewers were left fuming by the stunt, taking to Twitter to call the whole thing a “set-up”:
