Deadpool 2 is fast incoming, with Dark Phoenix and New Mutants on the way. Now, Deadline is reporting that a new X-Men movie is in development with prolific comic book writer Brian Michael Bendis developing the script and Deadpool's Tim Miller attached to direct.

The movie is currently titled '143' and is likely to be Miller's Kitty Pryde spin-off that was being discussed back in January.

'143' almost certainly refers to Uncanny X-Men #143, which starred Kitty Pryde back when she was a newly-introduced junior member of the team. The comic involved her fighting demons in Xavier's mansion at Christmas, which we're guessing probably won't be the film's plot unless Fox is planning to challenge Star Wars' dominance of the festive season.

Bendis has been one of Marvel Comics' lead writers for the last two decades, revamping the Avengers, creating Jessica Jones and launching the acclaimed Ultimate Spider-Man series among many other achievements. He was recently announced to be moving to Marvel's rival, DC Comics.

This'll mark the second female-led spin-off for the franchise after Dark Phoenix arrives on October 31, starring Sophie Turner as Jean Grey whose powers become out of control turning her into her titular alter ego.

Ellen Page played Kitty Pryde in X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Future Past and there's no news on whether she'd reprise the role for the standalone or whether it would be a re-cast reboot.
