Yahoo News X-Men spin-off movie Gambit has a working title
Gambit has been through its fair share of pre-production hell, but it seems the pieces may be finally slotting into place as the movie gets a working title. And it's super relevant.
Taylor Kitsch played the character in X-Men spin-off X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009, and it's taken a while to get a Remy LeBeau solo movie off the ground – Channing Tatum was originally cast to play the lead role in 2015.
Since then, the film has met a barrage of delays due to a variety of factors including major script rewrites, pushing back its release date several times and not one but TWO directors bailing from the project in the form of Doug Liman and Rupert Wyatt.
But that could all be changing now that we've got a release date, and if rumours of an official working title are true.

According to Omega Underground, who said they obtained the working title from a recent production listing, the working title will be Chess (and a gambit is actually a chess move, so it actually makes total sense.)
But what does the working title tell us? Well – if it is true – a lot actually.
A working title by definition suggests there is something to work on, and tied in with reports that Gore Verbinski has officially signed up to direct, we can take it that things are finally shifting into gear.
We could also infer the the Chess title means we can take Gambit at its most literal meaning, which could prove telling for the future of the MCU.
Considering a gambit is a chess opening – in which a player sacrifices a piece with the hope of achieving a resulting advantageous position – could fans fans can surely expect a sequel or two further down the line?
Time will tell...
Gambit is due for release in cinemas in February 2019.
