Another DC comic book series is coming to your telly, but don't run away, it's not another superhero one!

Y: The Last Man is a critically-acclaimed science-fiction series set in a post-apocalyptic world. But this isn't your typical zombie story. It's about a female-dominated society where a guy named Yorick and his pet monkey are the only males still alive.

As reported by Deadline, FX has given the show a full series order. With 60 issues of the comic, this one could be a long-term investment for the network.

Diane Lane, famously known as the Martha from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, has been cast as the lead of the ensemble cast. Barry Keoghan, who rose to fame in 2017's The Killing of a Sacred Deer, will play Yorick. He reacted to the announcement with this ominous image.

Captain Marvel's Lashana Lynch, Juliana Canfield, Imogen Poots, Amber Tamblyn and Marin Ireland round out the main cast.

Michael Green and Aïda Mashaka Croal will serve as showrunners, and having been involved in American Gods and Luke Cage respectively, we think the show is in good hands. The comic's creator Brian K Vaughan will executive produce.

Melina Matsoukas, who was behind some of Rihanna and Beyoncé's best music videos, directed the pilot episode. It'll be interesting to see if she returns for the full series.
