Years and Years is a pretty wild ride - so it should come as no surprise to viewers that Lee Latchford-Evans from Steps is going to make a cameo and teach Emma Thompson the 'Tragedy' dance routine.

The drama's third episode will see celebrity-turned-politician Vivienne Rook (Emma Thompson) try to win votes for the general election by learning the dance moves to 'Tragedy' when she's joined by her guest Lee on her own TV channel.

Yep. Makes sense.

"Doing the dance with Lee [Latchford-Evans] from Steps was my finest moment," Emma said.

"I do have to confirm that was the moment I thought, 'Hmm yeah I might have another career going here'. That was such good fun, hilarious, of course, because everyone in the studio was just pointing and laughing."

Meanwhile, Lee added: "I was thrilled to be asked by Russell T Davies and his team to be part of his brilliant new series Years and Years.

"Aside from being in Steps, acting is a real passion of mine and being able to meet and act alongside the legendary Emma Thompson was an absolute dream come true and what a wonderful lovely lady she is."

Speaking to Digital Spy previously, Years and Years creator Russell T Davies revealed that he's had the idea for the show in his head for years, but it was Donald Trump being elected US president that finally prompted him to start writing.

"It was literally the night of Trump's election," he said. "I emailed Piers Wenger, the head of drama at the BBC, and said, 'If he wins tomorrow, I should write this now, shouldn't I?' and he wrote back saying yes.

"So the next day, I was like, 'That's a commission! Legally binding.'"

Years and Years airs Tuesdays at 9pm on BBC One and is available to watch on iPlayer.
