Yekaterina Karaglanova, who was also a qualified doctor, was found dead by her landlord in Moscow on July 26.
The Russian Instagram influencer, 24, who had around 85,000 followers on the social media platform when she was found dead but now has around 100,000, would regularly share images of her luxurious travels.
Police have said that CCTV showed an ex-boyfriend visiting her home in the days before her appearance.
On Wednesday it was reported that Maxim Garayev, the ex-lover of Yekaterina, had confessed to her killing, according to the Daily Mail.
The 33-year-old seemingly claimed the victim had “insulted” his sexual prowess and earning power.
“She was insulting my sexual prowess and earning power. I could not stand that. I stabbed her with a knife at least five times around her neck and chest,” he reportedly said in a police video.
When he was asked if he regretted it, he said he did and would help police with the investigation.
