A yellow weather warning for rain has been issued for parts of Lancashire this weekend.

As Storm Eowyn batters the county today (Friday, January 24), residents won't be able to breathe a sigh of relief after it has passed as more adverse weather is due. Although Lancashire escapes much of the poor weather on Saturday, it's on Sunday where we can expect some of the rainfall to come.

Coastal areas such as Fleetwood, Blackpool and Southport are under the yellow weather warning for rain which has been issued by the Met Office. This warning will begin at 8am until 3pm on Sunday (January 26).

As well as rain, strong winds are also likely to cause disruption on Sunday. The Met Office explains: "A further period of strong south to southeasterly winds accompanied by some heavy rain is expected to move into the southwest on Sunday morning, then spread to other southern and western areas through the day.

"Winds are likely to gust 50 to 60 mph quite widely, and around some exposed coasts and hills gusts to 70 mph are possible."

Warnings are also in place on Monday, but this will affect southern England. The Met Office's North West outlook for Sunday to Tuesday reads: "A bright start on Sunday but turning windier with rain and hill snow arriving later.

"Changeable and showery on Monday and Tuesday and windy at times. Temperatures close to average."
