Succession's Brian Cox and Yellowstone star Kelly Reilly have been announced for a new Paramount+ film.

The pair will appear in the coming-of-age movie Little Wing, based on a New Yorker magazine article of the same name by Susan Orlean.

Little Wing follows 13-year-old Kaitlyn, who is coming to terms with her parents' separation and moving house. In a chance turn of events, she begins a journey into the world of pigeon racing. Initially hoping to steal a valuable bird to help aid her family's financial issues, she instead finds unlikely friendship that transsforms into a love of the sport.

Cox will star as Jaan, the pigeon racer, while Reilly will take on the role of Kaitlyn's mom Maddie. Cocaine Bear's Brooklynn Prince will play Kaitlyn and Me Time actor Che Tafari will star as Adam, Kaitlyn's classmate and friend.

The film, written by Academy Award nominee John Gatins, will be directed and executive produced by Dean Israelite, who has previously worked on the likes of Power Rangers and Are You Afraid of the Dark?.

As well as starring in the film, Cox will act as an executive producer alongside Karen Rosenfelt, Donald De Line, Susan Orlean, Don Dunn and Liz Brandenburg. A release date for Little Wing has not yet been announced.

This role follows Cox's recent shocking departure from hit HBO Max show Succession, which saw his character Logan Roy die suddenly.

The actor revealed that he learned of his character's death before filming for the fourth and final season began, and that he wasn't shocked by it.

"The explanation was that the reason was obvious. It's about succession. You need a corpse," he said during an interview with Vulture. "If it was a different kind of show, it could have gone into a more mysterious frame — 'Is Logan dead?' That kind of stuff. But I think Jesse [Armstrong, the creator] realised it had to be the way it had to be, and he made the decision to do that."

Little Wing will be released on Paramount+.
