Yodel Delivery Driver Saved Customer's Mobile Number Then Flirted With Her By Text

A Yodel delivery driver saved a female customer’s mobile phone number and then used it to send her flirty text messages.

Alena Faulkner, 24, from Crawley, West Sussex, was appalled by the behaviour of the driver, who had delivered her a set of drawers in two separate visits.

It was only the second time she has used delivery service Yodel, after ordering some storage units from eBay.

The same driver delivered the order in two instalments, but then sent her a text message the next week that read: “How r u doin?”

When Miss Faulkner, a chef, saw the message from the unknown number, she replied by asking who it was from.

The unnamed driver replied: “Just realised I saved ur number the last tym I delivered ur parcel.”

She texted back, “oh ok” but then he once again asked her: “How r u doin?”

Unhappy with the texts, Miss Faulkner contacted the company to make a complaint. It replied to say it had deleted her number from his phone.

She said: “It’s not professional for Yodel drivers to use their service as a dating site.

“Yodel agreed he was wrong and emailed me back to say that they’d spoken to the driver, took my number out of his phone and that the next time it will be a different delivery driver who comes to my place.

“But problem is they just took his phone and deleted the messages and put him on a different route.

“He was trying to hit on me - otherwise he would never messaged me a week later.

“It’s really made me worry - that man knows where I live.”

A spokesperson from Yodel said: “We sincerely apologise for this incident and understand the concern it caused.

“This is a serious complaint and steps were immediately taken to prevent any further contact.

“We have communicated these to the customer and we are happy to continue discussions with her.”
