New Yorkers Enjoy Season's First Major Snowstorm in Central Park

New Yorkers enjoyed snowy scenes in Central Park on the morning of Friday, January 7, after the city’s first major snowstorm of the winter dropped over a half foot of snow in some areas.

The storm, which passed through the New York area overnight, left 5.8 inches of snow in Central Park, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). At LaGuardia airport in Queens, the NWS reported a total of 9.7 inches, while it said 6.2 inches fell at JFK Airport.
