Yorkshire Christmas markets 2024 with dates, times and locations confirmed
It might still only be October but we'd be lying if we said we hadn't started thinking about Christmas - and of course Christmas isn't Christmas without a trip to the markets.
Yorkshire has long-standing traditions of Christmas markets across the region and it looks like 2024 is set to be no different.
From the bigger ones in the cities like Sheffield, Leeds and York to the smaller ones, such as Halifax Piece Hall, a trip to the markets always helps to get you in the Christmas spirit in the run-up to the big day.

Here are some of the best Christmas Markets being held across Yorkshire this year including dates, times and locations.
Harrogate Christmas Fayre
Harrogate’s famous Christmas Market returns to the town centre for 17 days of festive shopping opportunities from an eclectic mix of local traders and traditional European Christmas stalls.
There will be stalls filled with arts and crafts as well as treats, decorations and gits. There will also be music and entertainment.
The Harrogate Christmas Fayre will take place in the pedestrianised areas of Cambridge Street and Market Place in Harrogate town centre.
This year's Harrogate Christmas Fayre will be held between November 29 and December 15 across the town centre.
Leeds Christmas Market
Leeds will once again be home to another Christmas market and this year promises to be bigger and better than ever.
The new and improved market will cover two prime locations in the city centre - Millennium Square and City Square, with an additional weekend market on Bond Court.
There will be local, national and international traders with festive stalls selling unique gifts, crafts, and delicious treats from all around the world.
Leeds Christmas Markets will run from Friday, November, 29 until Sunday, December, 22.
Sheffield Christmas Market
Sheffield's Christmas Market will be returning for another year in the city centre and will again feature loads of local traders. This market will be set against the city centre Christmas lights.
There will be up to 50 alpine themed bars, including the return of the much loved Sleigh Bar and the traditional German sausage grill. As well as mulled wine and a Santa's Grotto for the little ones!
This year the markets will run from Thursday, November, 14 to Tuesday, December, 24.
Scarborough Sparkle
You can also take a trip to the coast this Christmas for a visit to Scarborough's Christmas market at the Open Air Theatre. There will be mulled wine, Christmas music, log fires, marshmallows and activities.
Scarborough Sparkle also features a Ferris Wheel and 35 themed stalls. These sell everything from food to Christmas gifts.
It’s the perfect event to get in the festive spirit sample great food and drink, and get a head start on some Christmas shopping.
This year the Christmas Wonderland weekend runs from Friday, November, 29 until Sunday, December, 1.
York Christmas Market
York's Christmas Market runs between November 14 and December 22 with plenty of stalls and events held throughout the city.
This year marks the 30th Anniversary of St Nicholas Fair, which has been a staple in York’s streets during the festive period since 1992.
The famous alpine chalets will once more line Parliament Street and St Sampson’s Square creating the festive wonderland York has become known for, offering an array of local traders and artisan products.
Winter Illuminations and Christmas Market at Yorkshire Wildlife Park
Browse the Christmas markets and grab yourself a warming hot chocolate against the backdrop of the spectacular Winter Illuminations.
Complete with Santa’s Grotto, Christmas tipi, Victorian fairground rides and over fifty festive stalls to browse, there’s something for all the family.
This year the fair will run on December, 12 to 15 and December, 19 to December, 22.
Malton Christmas festival
TV chef James Martin’s hometown of Malton prides itself on being Yorkshire’s food capital and the Malton Christmas Festival on December 7 and December 8 is a testament as to why it is so named.
There is a huge array of the best local and festive produce including freshly prepared turkeys and macarons – with plenty of mulled wine to sip as your browse the stalls.
Beverley Christmas Market
Beverley's Christmas Market will return on Sunday, December, 8. With themed entertainment, it showcases produce and crafts made exclusively by East Yorkshire businesses.
Each year, on the second Sunday in December, the centre of Beverley is transformed into a magical Christmas shopper’s wonderland, as more than 120 stalls brimming with Christmas gifts and local treats take over the historic market town.
This year’s event will be take place from 10am to 4pm, taking over Saturday Market, North Bar Within and Wednesday Market, with links to Flemingate Shopping Centre.
New for 2024 will see North Bar’s Georgian Quarter feature East Yorkshire businesses and traders and showcase the wonderful array of local producers.
Christmas in Haworth
Every year at Christmas time, Haworth is lit by twinkling fairy lights and pretty shop windows.
The cobbled streets become home to wonderful independent shops, bars and restaurants, cafes, hotels and pubs, and every weekend in December leading up to Christmas, Haworth's residents and traders host bands, choirs, carol singers, processions and a magical Christmas market for visitors to enjoy.
This year Festive Artisan Market will take place in Central Park on Sunday, December, 15.
Knaresborough Christmas Market
The Christmas Market will return to Knaresborough over December 7 and 8. It will feature a huge number of independent festive traders.
There will also be live musical entertainment, free park and ride and a spectacular firework finale at 4.30pm on the Sunday.
Skipton Christmas Market
The successful weekly Skipton Market turns festive on two Sundays in December (December 1 and 8) with mulled wine, choirs, brass bands, seasonal entertainment and live music - it's the perfect spot to pick up your Christmas gifts this year.
Halifax Piece Hall Christmas Market
Halifax Christmas Market will run over three weekends this year showcasing some of the regions favourite independent food and drink producers, artisan makers and pop-up street food. Featuring 50 unique stalls with everything from homeware, jewellery, gifts and delicious food to take home.
The markets will take place on weekends between Friday, November, 15 and Sunday, December, 22.
