Yorkshire drug dealer caught brandishing machete around children's playground
A Leeds thug was caught brandishing a machete around a children's playground in Sheffield.
Yusef Camara, 20, was arrested as part of an undercover in Broomhall on August 28. He was found with £1,100 worth of Class A drugs, in 100 wraps. He attacked the arresting officer while attempting to escape, which led to the officer requiring hospital treatment.
Camara, of Sandhurst Grove, was arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs and weapons. He was detained during South Yorkshire Police's Operation Steel – a proactive operation focused on combatting organised crime and drug dealing in the Broomhall and city centre areas of Sheffield.

For the assault on the officer, Camara was further arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.
He was later charged with possession with intent to supply cocaine, crack cocaine and heroin, possession of cannabis, possession of a bladed article, possession of criminal property, and assault of an emergency worker.
Despite being found with drugs estimated to be worth more than £1,100, at interview he denied that he intended to supply them and said that he had them because he was “going through a lot”. He also denied assaulting a police officer and claimed that the knife he was found with had been given to him by someone else shortly before his arrest.
However, Camara pleaded guilty to all offences on September 27 and at Sheffield Crown Court on Thursday, November 21 was sentenced to four years in prison. Camara will appear at the same court on March 21, 2025 where an application will be made under the Proceeds of Crime Act to recover money he made through his illegal activity.
Detective Constable David Jackson, who was the officer in charge of the case, said: “The drugs Camara planned to supply in South Yorkshire would have caused untold damage to vulnerable people in our community and likely funded further criminality.
“The machete Camara was carrying in the vicinity of a children’s playground was visible for all to see and the injured officer was selfless in the way he bravely detained him.
“The fact that Camara assaulted the officer during his arrest shows he is a self-interested individual who wished to avoid accountability for his crimes.
“Thanks to the officers at the scene, Camara has been brought to justice and he will now have years to reflect on where his poor decisions have led him.”
