Our Yorkshire Farm star Amanda Owen has opened up on how separating from her husband Clive has improved their relationship.

The couple announced they would go their separate ways in 2022 after 22 years of marriage. Amanda and Clive are best known for the reality TV show — axed by Channel 5 in 2022 — that detailed their day-to-day farm life together with their nine children.

In a new interview with The Daily Mail, Amanda explained that living apart has proved the right solution for them. Since the split, she's moved into the family's nearby holiday let.

"We both agreed we were better apart than together with the children spending time in either home as they wished," Amanda said.

"Can't believe I'm actually going to say this, but after everything we've been through, Clive is the person that I talk to now," she continued. "He's my confidant and he will now listen to my worries and I his."

Weighing in on the reasons for the separation, Amanda said she felt "calmer" spending some time away from the farm.

"I was trying to be everything to everyone, and it was exhausting… To get away from the atmosphere, I would go to our nearby holiday let… I soon realised I was so much calmer spending time apart from Clive – we both were – and so I began to spend more and more time there," she said.

Previously addressing the decision to end their marriage, Clive said he "made a right mess of things".

"I had a massive part to play in our relationship ending," he said on ITV's Lorraine in April 2023.

Clive recalled he felt the show was "taking [Amanda] away", resulting in him not being supportive of his wife.

"But it wasn't, she was just committed," he added. "We were all committed to this thing, but it seemed to eat away at me and I handled it badly."
