Yorkshire snow and ice update as Met Office predicts 'early winter spell' to arrive
There is a change and chill in the air as an 'early winter cold spell' arrives brining the potential for disruption for next week - but what does this mean for Yorkshire?
Thankfully, today's weather will not cause any trouble for residents apart from making you put on extra warm clothing and the heating on at the start of the morning as it is around 3 degrees around Whitby, Ripon, York and Malton but slightly warmer in Leeds by 4 degrees. Sadly it does not seem to increase throughout the day as top temperatures around 12pm is 6/7 degrees..
The temperature then dips back in the evening to where it was at the start of the day.

On the Met office website it said today will be a mostly sunny morning but the increase of cloud by the afternoon.
"Mainly dry, a few showers possible in the west, these wintry over high ground. Generally light winds but feeling cold. Maximum temperature 6 °C."
Whereas for the week ahead, there are several warnings in place across Yorkshire such as Northallerton.
It said: "Persistent rain arriving Monday, likely falling as snow across the Pennines. Tuesday rain or hill snow clearing, perhaps lower-level snow. Isolated wintry showers follow.
"Turning colder and often windy."
However, this weeks weather seems very mild compared to what is predicted towards the end of the month of November towards the beginning of December.
The Met Office warns: "Cold or very cold conditions are expected across most if not all parts of the UK early in this period, with wintry showers affecting in particular northern parts and exposed coastal districts, although it may well be largely sunny inland. Overnight frost will be widespread and occasionally strong winds will result in significant wind chill.
"However, there is an increasing chance through the first weekend and into the following week of more organised areas of rain, snow and strong winds affecting many areas, this probably also associated with milder temperatures, at least in the south.
"Later in the period, conditions remain uncertain, but it is most likely to remain mostly unsettled with further spells of rain and snow."
They add: "For Sunday 1 Dec - Sunday 15 Dec, signals vary in prevailing weather patterns through early December.
"In general, there looks like a trend towards drier and more settled conditions, with high pressure potentially being the more dominant influence over the UK.
"However, there is also a chance of more changeable weather patterns, which would see Atlantic weather systems periodically move across the country.
"These will bring some wetter and windier interludes with a risk of some snow, especially for hills in the north. Temperatures generally close to average, perhaps a little above at times, especially in the south."
