One of the UK's biggest waterparks is right here in Yorkshire - and it's getting rave review from kids and parents alike.

Calypso Cove, one of the UK's largest waterparks, is part of the Metrodome Leisure Complex and has been praised by parents for its fantastic facilities. The vibrant Calypso Cove park features a massive skull as its focal point, offering an underwater viewing area for spectators.

Barnacle Bay, an interactive splash zone designed for children under eight, ensures that little ones can't wander off. The park boasts two pools - a smaller wave pool and a larger one for swimming lengths. It also includes a pirate ship and a place to race down water slides.

Conveniently located just five minutes from Barnsley Interchange, the park also houses a cafe, The Hideout, where families can refuel during their visit, reports Yorkshire Live.

Terror Torrent, the park's fastest and largest slide, is considered one of the UK's quickest flumes. While there are no height restrictions, children cannot ride with an adult on this slide.

Behind the skull, visitors will discover a diving area. The park also features a pirate ship with a sunken galleon, ideal for older children, equipped with a tipping bucket and water cannons.

The Splash Ahoy area offers four water slides perfect for racing friends and family.

The park has been awarded a four-star rating on Tripadvisor, with parents praising it as a "great day" out and "amazing for swimming".

Blue shared their experience: "I have attended today with my husband and little girl for her 8th birthday."

"I was apprehensive after reading some reviews but can tell you, it was clean, the pools were brilliant and we had an amazing time and will definitely visit again! ".

Colin also commented: "After reading all the reviews I was sceptical but shouldn't have been, great place to go, water was very warm, plenty of facilities for young and old, a little dated in places, changing rooms a little small but that's it. I will going back very soon although it's an hour away."

Saaci remarked: "The pools and the diving boards were open, one of the slides was shut. The temperature was nice, not too cold. Changing facilities fine. It did get busy as we were leaving. All in all it was good fun."

Another visitor expressed their satisfaction: "We had a great time today. Spacious, clean changing rooms. There's plenty to do. My son loved the diving boards and my daughter who is normally a bit nervous loved the big, wavy rainbow slide. The lifeguards are attentive and we felt safe."

"It was busy, but hey it's a weekend in the school holidays so to be expected! Even though busy, we only waited 5 mins max for the slides."

Joanna commented, "It was busy, but not too packed as they limit numbers and the slides looked like a lot of fun. I must mention Charlie, our party host who was brilliant from start to finish and explained exactly what was happening when. He always had a smile on his face even when he was rushed off his feet! ".
