Yorkshire weather this week as more unsettled conditions and wet weather forecast
The Met Office is predicting that more rain will fall across Yorkshire this week in the aftermath of Monday’s yellow weather warning.
Parts of the region were issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain on Monday, September 30, which affected parts of the region including Sheffield, Doncaster and Scarborough.
According to the latest predictions from meteorologists at the Met Office, the wet weather will continue throughout Tuesday before cloudy and windy conditions take over as we head towards the weekend. The rain isn’t expected to stay away for long however, with more downpours and “unsettled conditions” forecast at the weekend.

The Met Office weather forecast for Yorkshire on Tuesday, October 1, is: “Early rain and drizzle across eastern parts easing away south. Most parts then dry, but rather cloudy, with still a few showers possible. Staying rather breezy along the coast. Maximum temperature 14 °C.”
Forecasters are predicting that any residual showers will stick around on Wednesday, before conditions become “drier with long sunny periods” on Thursday. Winds are then expected to pick up on Friday, with cloudy conditions dominating the forecast.
The Met Office weather forecast for Yorkshire from Wednesday, October 2, to Friday, October 4, is: “Any residual showers easing Wednesday. Then drier, with light winds and long sunny periods. Chilly overnight with some frost, and mist or fog patches. Likely cloudier Friday with winds strengthening.”
However the dry conditions aren’t expected to stick around for long, with the Met Office also predicting that a period of unsettled conditions will arrive in the UK at the weekend, bringing with it heavy and persistent showers and strong winds.
The Met Office long range forecast for the UK between Saturday, October 5, and Monday, October 14, is: “Areas of low pressure, initially centred over the Atlantic, will slowly meander eastwards across the UK through the weekend and into much of next week, albeit often on a track that is south-shifted relative to normal. This will bring more widely unsettled conditions, with periods of rain or showers, perhaps heavy and persistent at times, and perhaps accompanied by windy spells too.
“The wettest conditions, relative to average, are likely across England and Wales, while it may become rather windy for a time across the north and northwest of Scotland early next week, where it will also turn colder. Later in the period it may become more widely drier across northern areas, as colder conditions then become established more widely across the UK.”
