Yorkshire Wolds glamping site is officially the best in the whole of the north east of England
A small glamping site set in the heart of the stunning Yorkshire Wolds has made a big impact on its guests, if an illustrious hospitality award is anything to go by.
One of the UK’s most popular websites for linking people up with camping, glamping and touring holidays, Campsites.co.uk, has judged Wold Meadow the winner of Best Glamping Site North East England, in its 2024 Camping and Glamping Awards. The site was also runner-up in the Best Adult Only Site Award.
Wold Meadow, in the quaint East Yorkshire village of Wold Newton, near Driffield, is owned by Graham and Jayne White. The couple, who have lived and worked in the area all their lives, previously ran a busy leisure and tourism business for 15 years and were planning to “take things easy” when they sold that in 2019.

However, they found they missed the life and, with the help of their daughter, Charlotte, set up Wold Meadow. The intimate little site offers just a handful of peaceful yurts for adult-only holiday stays, with plenty of luxurious features including king-size beds, private patios and log-fired hot-tubs, and fully equipped right down to fluffy bath robes.
Graham said they were delighted to be honoured with the Campsites.co.uk awards. “We’re very pleased. It gives you that sense of achievement; it’s that extra verification that you are doing things right when customers vote for you.
“It’s very easy in hospitality to think everything is perfect, and it’s not always. One of the key things we have done since we started this is, we will tend to say to people, if there is anything we can improve on, please tell us.”
Guests at Wold Meadow can soak up the glorious open country views from the comforts of the luxury Stargazer bell tent, or a choice of yurts, quaintly named Hare's Leap, Hedgehog Hideaway, Foxes Lair, Badger's View, Dormouse Corner, and Deers Stride, each sleeping two people, plus a maximum of two dogs. Campsites.co.uk described the facilities as “the height of luxury”, just 15 minutes from the Yorkshire coast and the ideal spot from which to explore the surrounding countryside or to tackle, “in small chunks”, the nearby Wolds Way.
Wold Meadow boasts of its “wide-open skies, the incredible wildlife and the warm Yorkshire hospitality”. Visitors can take advantage of an outdoor kitchen at the site and there is the option to pre-order self-cook breakfast hampers, or a “no effort” version including items such as croissants, local jam and butter or granola, fruit, yoghurt and honey.

Martin Smith, founder of Campsites.co.uk, said: "Our annual awards give us the opportunity to celebrate the UK's best campsites, and this year's standards feel higher than ever. Each of the winning sites stand out for the care they put into being consistently excellent.
“My thanks and congratulations to all of the winners for adding some much-needed adventure to everyday life!" The annual Camping and Glamping Awards recognise sites that distinguish themselves, with the awards being judged using various criteria, including metrics taken from the website, verified guest reviews (value for money, facilities, location, service, and cleanliness), site visits and editorial debate.
Wold Meadow is at Rainsburgh Lane, Wold Newton, Driffield, YO25 2HL. It is open from April until the second week of October and more information is available via its website and on Facebook, as well as at Campsites.co.uk
