Yorkshire Live has been inundated with messages and well wishes for a police officer who has been seriously injured after being ‘dragged under a car’ in Leeds this afternoon (May 31).

A video shared online showed the horrific moment the police officer was dragged under the car as they attempted to approach those inside. The car, a Seat Ibiza, had been stopped by the West Yorkshire Police roads policing unit in Selby Road following a short pursuit after it "failed to stop".

The officer has since been taken to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The occupants of the vehicle, who originally failed to stop for officers, have been arrested.

Enquiries remain ongoing which necessitated the road being closed for a short time.
