Young biker dies in crash on A303 in Somerset

A biker has died after a crash on the A303 in Somerset. Emergency services were called to the A-road near Horton at around 7pm on Saturday, June 1 where a collision involving a motorbike and a silver Ford Fiesta was reported.

Avon and Somerset Police today (Sunday, June 2) confirmed that a man aged in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene. A spokesperson for the force said: "His family have been notified and our sympathies are with them. We will ensure they have access to support through a specially-trained family liaison officer."

The A303 was closed for several hours while a crash investigation was carried out. The road reopened overnight and a police spokesperson added that the force is grateful for motorist's patience while emergency services were at the scene.

Avon and Somerset Police are investigating the collision and anyone who saw what happened or may has dashcam footage of the crash are urged to get in contact.

The force said in a statement: "Enquiries are ongoing and therefore we would ask anyone who witnessed what happened and has not yet spoken to us, or was driving in the area and may have dashcam showing the vehicles prior to the collision, to please contact us online or on 101 and quoting reference number 5224140973 ."
