Young Edinburgh family's 'hearts shattered' at tragic death of loving mum

An Edinburgh family is devastated after the sudden passing of their wife and mum just weeks before Christmas.

Stephanie Ternent Reid was just 36 years-old when she tragically passed away, leaving her husband Ryan and their two young children’s “hearts shattered”.

She passed unexpectedly on Monday, November 18. A family member is now helping raise funds to help support Ryan Stephanie’s two young children - Jackson, 7, and Sophia, 1. Follow this link if you would like to donate.

Brogan, Ryan’s sister, said the Craigmillar family was in the process of moving to Tranent shortly before Stephanie’s passing. Now with Christmas on the way, they are faced with challenging decisions.

She told Edinburgh Live: “ With this being so unexpected and Steph being so young and having such a young family, they didn’t expect to be faced with something like this.

“I know that Stephanie would absolutely jump at the chance to do this, to help anybody in need. Stephanie would give everybody her last before herself. We’re really grateful for the donations so far. I don’t have words to summarise how grateful we are.”

In the fundraiser, Brogan adds: “In a short space of time, their lives have dramatically changed with this heart shattering news. Suddenly, they have found themselves making many financial decisions, along with planning a funeral in the lead up to Christmas.

“This is something that as a family, they have never anticipated to happen, especially at such a young age.

“At 36, she had her whole life ahead of her and she had many future plans in place with her beautiful family. More recently, they were due to move into a new family home at the end of November, which has now changed for the worse due to Stephanie’s unexpected passing.

“Stephanie’s two wonderful children were the definition of her life and much more. She lived for her children and wanted nothing but the very best for them. Her love for both Jackson and Sophia was indescribable.

“Stephanie leaves behind her beloved husband Ryan, who she adored and loved so very much. Ryan is now faced with naviigating his life and living a ‘new’ normal without Stephanie and caring for two young children without his life partner beside him.

“It is so hard to comprehend the grief they are all going through, especially as a young family just starting out in life.

“We would be very grateful if you could spare anything to help support this young family at this tragic and heartbreaking time.”
