Young man, 21, found dead in room while staying in town centre hotel
A YOUNG man was found dead in his room while staying in a town centre hotel.
An inquest has been formally opened into the death of Zac Connor Lee Evans.
The 21-year-old, of no fixed abode, was found deceased at the Travelodge hotel on Kendrick Street in the town centre on January 18.
His inquest was opened and adjourned until a later date at Warrington Coroner’s Court on Wednesday.
The hearing heard how a number of boxes of prescription and non-prescription medication were found in his hotel room by police.
He was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene and identified by his mother to police officers the following day.
A post mortem examination was undertaken on January 26 at Warrington Hospital.
It was said during the hearing that the cause of death is currently under investigation.
Concluding the hearing, Jacqueline Devonish, senior coroner for Cheshire, said: “On the evidence I have heard, this is a case that requires an inquest.
“I formally open the case and adjourn it to June 8, 2023.”
