Young man in life-threatening condition after serious incident

A man remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a serious incident in central Bristol on Saturday (September 21). According to Avon and Somerset police, the man in his 20s sustained serious injuries after falling from a height in Broad Street.

A police presence remained in Broad Street over the weekend until Monday (September 23) while officers investigated the circumstances around the man’s serious injuries and carried out enquiries. Officers arrived at the scene by Hort’s Townhouse around 7.50pm after being called by the ambulance service.

Initially a woman was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. She was later released under investigation after helping police with enquiries and receiving medical treatment.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset police said: "A man, in his 20s, remains in hospital in a life-threatening condition having sustained serious injuries in a fall from a height in Bristol. The ambulance service made us aware of the incident in Broad Street at approximately 7.50pm on Saturday, September 21.

"Detectives are carrying out inquiries to understand the circumstances that led to the man sustaining such serious injuries. To help with establishing what happened, a woman, in her 30s, was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

“This enabled her to be questioned under caution after she had received medical treatment. She was later released under investigation having helped officers with their inquiries. A police presence remained in Broad Street for much of yesterday, but the scene was lifted at approximately 6.30pm."
