A young woman is warning people about "bumps" she found on her body - which turned out to be due to a "weird disease".

It can be worrying if you see something on your body that looks unusual or unsightly - but getting any health concerns checked out is important. A woman recently went viral after sharing how she discovered she had a body infection. It began when she noticed her skin was so itchy, and she had bumps on her hand.

In a video shared on her TikTok page @hailssss, which has raked in over 19 million likes, she explained the different stages of her illness. She said: "Add this to my weird diseases. Having weird bumps on my hand. Hysterically crying at alcohol because I was so itchy and exhausted from being itchy and not sleeping."

Four weeks later her chest was red and blotchy. She added: "Went to the emergency room and they said I was allergic to my laundry detergent. Good news is, I don't have scabies. Bad news is, I still have no idea why there are bumps all over my body."

The annoyed woman discovered that she was not allergic to laundry detergent but still needed answers. At one point, she was deep cleaning my room at 2am because she was "so f***ing itchy".

She added: "Thinking my cancer came back and I was going to die. I hadn't sleep in six weeks with Benadryl so I went back to the emergency room."

It was revealed that she was suffering with scarlet fever. The NHS states that it is a contagious infection. It typically occurs in young children, and can be treated with antibiotics.

To check if you have scarlet fever, the NHS added: "The first signs of scarlet fever can be flu-like symptoms, including a high temperature, a sore throat and swollen neck glands (a large lump on the side of your neck).

"A rash appears 12 to 48 hours later. It looks like small, raised bumps and starts on the chest and tummy, then spreads. The rash makes your skin feel rough, like sandpaper."

On white skin the rash will look pink or red, while on brown or black skin it might be harder to see a colour change, but you will see and feel raised bumps. Some may also noticed a white coating on the tongue - it can be sore and be covered in little bumps.

If you spot something unusual on your body that you are concerned about, contact your GP or visit the NHS website for more information.
