'You're a Good Boy': Wombat Shakes Off After Swimming Across Murray River

Dean Heather caught a glimpse of a wombat swimming across the Murray River on the border of Victoria and New South Wales on March 7.

Heather said he was camping at Neil’s reserve, east of Walwa, over the weekend when his wife Ange heard a splashing sound.

This footage shows the wombat emerging from the water.

“Who knew wombats could swim? Or that they wanted to,” said Heather. “But this one clearly did without a care, shook himself off and rambled into the bush. I have never seen a wombat swim and don’t know anyone who has.” Credit: Dean Heather via Storyful
