We all love a pamper session every now and again.

Soaking in a nice hot bath, popping on a sheet mask and slathering ourselves in body lotion are all rituals that leave us feeling great. And many don't feel put-together until they've painted their nails.

So if you're a fan of at-home manicures, there's a game-changing beauty hack you need to pay attention to. That's because it should help to prevent your freshly painted nails from getting ruined.

A TikToker called 8kateee shared her top tip to "lock in" nail polish. The beauty guru has a whopping 200,000 followers thanks to her handy hacks, so she knows what she's talking about!

She said: "Some of you don't know the ice track when doing your nails and I actually have no idea how you're getting normal polish to look halfway decent. But, it's my favourite girl hack of all time – so let me show you."

Kate applied two coats of OPI nail varnish, allowing the second to dry "slightly" before dropping her hand into a glass full of ice water for around 20 seconds.

She added: "The whole point of this if you've ever painted your nails – you probably know if they're not [properly] dry when you go to bed or sit down with a blanket or something, you're going to get little divots in the polish. It drives me up all the wall."

After giving the nail polish an ice bath, it stayed looking brilliant for days. Kate prodded at her nails and added: "It's not leaving any indent... Now my nails are locked in for perfection for at least a week".

The simple tip has been praised by thousands, who flooded the comments section with rave reviews. One said: "Dries like magic and lasts forever."

A second remarked: "Yes, oh my god. My mum showed me this trick 45 years ago." While a third added: "This is actually life-changing information."
