YouTube has a lot of quirks, but a shady new way to use the streaming website has now cropped up – and it's most definitely not okay.

As spotted by Mashable, an absolute ton of accounts are popping up on the video platform making TV shows available to livestream 24/7.

Searching for series like The Simpsons, Family Guy and loads more (Futurama, American Dad, King of the Hill, etc) brings up page after page of livestreams showing non-stop episodes.

And if you're thinking this all sounds a little sketchy, you'd be correct.

All of these shows are copyrighted material, and broadcasting them is absolutely illegal. To add to the weirdness of this particular corner of YouTube, while some livestreams have close to a thousand viewers, others have just a handful.

The streams also don't have adverts, so the account holders aren't even making any money from their streams. Maybe they just really love The Simpsons?

The livestreams are often shut down by YouTube fairly quickly when a copyright breach is found, but more are sure to pop up in their place, and some even manage to survive for the best part of a day before being removed.

So if you want to spend all day watching non-stop episodes of your favourite shows, YouTube isn't the answer. It's not like there's a raft of legal streaming services you can sign up to or anything...
