YouTuber Deyes apologises for 'insensitive' £1 video
YouTuber Alfie Deyes has apologised after a video he posted in which he aims to spend just £1 in a day received a strong backlash online.
Taking part in a current trend with YouTube personalities, Alfie shared the clip in which he goes about his day trying to spend on £1 on necessities like food and drink.
However, the clip has been criticised by viewers, many taking issue with the idea that he was making 'poverty entertainment'.
My favourite part of the Alfie Deyes vlog is when Zoella hands him a £1 coin and they both laugh...piss off! People actually have to live off £1 a day...poverty is not your content and monkey making scheme!

when a privileged person such as alfie deyes does a video involving living on a £1 for a day, it's fun for them because they know it'll be over tomorrow. if they really want to help, donate to food banks, educate yourself, speak to people who ACTUALLY struggle.

No words for Alfie Deyes latest ‘Living on £1 for the day’ video. Moaning about having to drink tap water and not have a coffee...this is people’s reality up and down the country every single day. The boy has absolutely no clue what it’s like to be below the poverty line.

Still bull and makes you come across as a spoilt brat. Oh poor little rich boy can’t use his water filter machine, how on earth will I sleep at night worrying about that!!!

Ha.. I remember sitting in my bathroom sobbing because I couldn’t afford a 75p loaf of bread! It is definitely reality for some people 😔 x

Alfie was also criticised for one point in the video where he complained about drinking tap water instead of filtered bottle water, some calling the star a "spoilt brat".
The clip, originally called 'Living Off £1 For A Day', has now had its title changed to 'Spending £1 In 24 hours!'
Since the backlash, Alfie has also posted an apology on Twitter, writing: "I've just got on Twitter to some people are unhappy with the video I just uploaded. I'm so sorry if this has upset you, that was never my intention.

"I'd seen many others do this video recently and wanted to try it myself. Some people have seen the video as me mocking others, which I for sure was not doing in the video.
"I've seen some people asking me to change the title to 'Spending £1 in 24 hours' and I've since changed the title so it's more fitting and less misleading."
Alfie added: "Hope this clears up some of your concerns."
