Zac Efron Shares His Heartache Following The Death Of His Dog

Zac Efron took to social media to break the sad news that his dog, Puppy Efron, had sadly passed away.

Zac adopted the pup back in 2011 and poignantly referred to him as his “best friend” in a loving Instagram tribute.

Sharing a photo of himself being licked on the face by his pet, Zac wrote: “Through thick and thin you’ve always been my best friend.

"I’ll see you at the finish line, RIP Puppy Efron.”

He then quoted lyrics from Chance the Rapper, adding: “Felt hog tied ever since my dog died/ He lived to 84, damn, that’s a long ride/ I know he up there he just sit and he wait/ I’ll be racing up the stairs I'mma get to the gate singing”.

Zac revealed that he was the proud owner of Puppy Efron in April 2012 although he actually got him four months earlier at Christmas time.

He wrote on Twitter at the time: “I’ve got a dog named Puppy. He’s an Australian Shepherd. I’ll post a picture later today”.

The 28-year-old hunk is also dog-dad to two other dogs, Dreamer and Chappelle, with Zac being incredibly open about how dedicated he is to his pets.

He previously shared in an interview that he ran into the road in just his underwear to ensure that his dog was safe, explaining: “I just ran out in the yard to go save him [his dog], like in the street, in my underwear — I just woke up — and snagged him and was like, ‘No, don’t run away.’

"And I looked up and my neighbor and his whole family were like, 'Morning!’ I was like, 'Hey! This is awkward. You have a lot of kids.’”

Our thoughts are with Zac at this incredibly sad time.
