Amy Adams may have ended up bagging the role of Lois Lane, but DC nearly opted for a star who went on to conquer the Marvel universe.

Zack Snyder has opened up about casting for the part, and while he always wanted to go with Adams, at one point it was a toss-up between her and Guardians of the Galaxy's Zoe Saldana for 2013's Man of Steel.

"Amy actually inspired that opening scene in Batman v Superman," the director told Comic Book Debate. "She mentioned journalists who have been in war zones and we went along with it.

"At a time, it was between her and Zoe Saldana. They're totally different, but their presence is super strong."

Still, Saldana hasn't done too badly, now being part of three of the biggest franchises in the world - Marvel, Star Trek and Avatar.

Of course, one of her most notable characters is Gamora in Guardians, and we've had a think about who the 'new' Gamora could be going forward.

In other DC news, it sounds like it may have found a new actor to replace Ben Affleck for The Batman, with Twilight star Robert Pattinson reportedly the first choice to play the Caped Crusader.

Also on the list are Armie Hammer, Nicholas Hoult and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
