A teenager has been charged with the fatal stabbing of 15-year-old Zaian Aimable-Lina in Croydon.
The 15-year-old was arrested on suspicion of murder late on New Year’s Day.
He was taken to a south London police station and he was charged with murder on Monday.
The teenager is due to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday January 4.
Zaian Aimable-Lina’s family have been informed of the development.
Detectives launched a murder investigation. Police were alerted to an assault in Ashburton Park, Croydon shortly after 7pm on Thursday, 30 December.
Zaian Aimable-Lina was found with stab wounds at the scene by officers.
Immediately he was provided with first aid prior to the arrival of the London Ambulance Service.
However, he was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 7.30pm despite their efforts.
His family are being supported by specialist officers.
Another 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder on December 31.
He was taken to a south London police station and later released on bail until late January.
A post-mortem examination, which was held on SaturdayJanuary 1, revealed his cause of death was a stab wound to the heart.
