  • The Queen's granddaughter Zara Tindall says she'll be horrified if either of her daughters get a tattoo when they're older.

  • But she admits she wouldn't be able to put up much of an argument, since she's often been called a "rebel royal" herself.

Now we think about it, we're not sure we've ever seen a member of the royal family with a tattoo. While it wouldn't be entirely surprising if Prince Harry had one lurking away somewhere, or Kate Middleton got a dainty heart back in her university days, it's not something they seem particularly keen to show off.

And even Zara Tindall, who earned herself the "rebel royal" nickname back in her teens when she got a tongue piercing, isn't a fan of skin ink. The Queen's granddaughter, who has two young daughters with husband, former rugby player Mike Tindall, says it's not something she wants to have to deal with when they get older.

“He absolutely hasn’t got a tattoo," she said, referring to Mike. "I’d also rather one of my daughters came home with a piercing than a tattoo because at least a stud can be removed,” she admitted in an interview in next month’s Saga Magazine.

“I wouldn’t have a leg to stand on if they did though.”

Zara is mum to Mia Grace, five, and one-year-old Lena - and her eldest daughter is notoriously one of the cheekiest young royals. She became an instant star when she was pictured holding Queen Elizabeth's handbag in one of the official royal portraits, and she made an adorable bridesmaid at Princess Eugenie's wedding last year.
