Zayn Malik reveals why he can't have the normal life he craved

When Zayn Malik left One Direction he stated that he wanted to live the life of a "normal 22-year-old". But, things didn't exactly go to plan. "It worked out for about two weeks and I got bored of it," the singer admitted during an interview on Capital radio.

"I don't think I could ever go back to being completely normal. I guess that's something I accepted, that this is as normal as it gets for me. I just want to make music that I believe in and music that I stand for."

Zayn has been receiving a lot of press attention of late – from his rumoured romance with model of the moment Gigi Hadid, to his 'feud' with former bandmate Louis Tomlinson. There was big excitement amongst 1D fans this week then when Zayn favourited Louis' first photo of his newborn son Freddie.

Asked by host Dave Berry whether he would be going to visit the baby, Zayn replied: "We'll see if I get an invite. Obviously I wish him the best of luck. His kid is cute… So obviously I favourited it.

"We're not talking on friend terms, obviously, so that's as far as I can go, by favouriting his picture."

On Thursday evening, Zayn released the music video for his highly-anticipated first solo single, Pillowtalk – and it did nothing to dispel talk about his relationship with 20-year-old Gigi. The pair star together in the steamy video, and can be seen kissing and wrapping their arms around each other, which many have taken as confirmation of their romance.

But Zayn still remained coy when he was asked about Gigi during an interview with Zane Lowe recently. Seemingly caught off guard, the Bradford-born star stumbled over his words a little before replying: "Yeah, we're good friends."
