We got our first indication that more music from Zayn Malik was on the way sooner rather than later last week, and now he's gone on the record to say that his new album is coming along nicely too. Rejoice!

Speaking to The Sunday Times Style, Zayn reflected on the process of recording the upcoming album, especially considering it's album number two now.

"They always say the second album is difficult," he said. "But so far I'm really happy with this one.

"There are real signs of growth and development," he continued, before adding that he feels he's grown as an artist and a person.

"Hopefully, as a human being, I'm growing too, in my knowledge and perception."

Growth in knowledge and perception means even better music, right Zayn? Maybe that's why he summed up his Taylor Swift collaboration 'I Don't Wanna Live Forever' as a "bit raunchy, bit romantic, Titanic-like".

Never one to play it too cool, Zayn teased fans with a 30-second clip posted to Twitter last week featuring what sounds suspiciously like new music.

He later followed up the snippet by promising there would be "more to come". And then he ended the teaser with the eye emojis, which we all know means something big is coming.

Zayn also spoke about a ton of other topics during the interview, including his relationship with supermodel Gigi Hadid - "I've never took her to Bradford, not yet. She's met my family in London a few times, though." - as well as his role as the "mysterious one" in One Direction.

"I have no idea why," he said when asked about it. "It was obviously a marketing strategy to appeal to different areas of female personalities and wants and needs.

"'I might want a cute one', 'I might want a cheeky one', 'I might want a mysterious one', that's all it was.

"It's cool, that's life, I guess," he added. "I don't really think of myself as mysterious, but maybe I am."

Maybe you are, Zayn... just as long as you're not too mysterious about your new album for much longer.
