Zelensky Calls for Ukrainian Involvement in Poland Explosion Investigation

Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelensky on Wednesday night, November 16, called for his country to be involved in investigations into a deadly missile explosion in the small eastern Polish village of Przewodow on Tuesday.

“The Ukrainian position is very transparent: we strive to establish all the details, every fact,” Zelensky said. “That is why we need our specialists to join the work of the international investigation and to get access to all the data available to our partners and the site of the explosion.”

Zelensky also said he had expressed his condolences to Polish counterpart Andrzej Duda for the two people killed in the explosion and held a minute’s silence.

“Russian aggression took the lives of two Polish citizens,” Zelensky said. “And I want all of us to honor the memory of all those whose lives were taken by this Russian war with a minute silence.”

In an address earlier on Wednesday, the Polish president said there was no evidence the missile that hit Przewodow was fired by Russia.

“There are many indications that it was an air defense missile, which unfortunately fell on Polish territory,” Duda said.
