Zoe Ball's ongoing absence from her BBC Radio 2 breakfast show is set to continue for another week, leaving fans puzzled. Scott Mills is scheduled to fill in for Zoe once more, with the BBC confirming his presence Monday through Friday (Sep 16-20).

During this period, DJ Spoony and OJ Borg will cover Scott's regular afternoon slot. It has been since August 8 that Zoe last hosted the breakfast show, with Gaby Roslin and Scott stepping up during her time away.

BBC representatives have assured listeners that Zoe will return before the end of September, although a specific date for her comeback has not yet been disclosed.

On taking the reins on August 12, Scott reassured listeners who might be surprised by his voice in the early hours: "If you set your alarm every morning to go off at 6.30am and normally Zoe comes on, please do not freak out. You have not overslept. If you've just put us on this morning, it's Scott Mills in for Zoe for the next few weeks. I'm sending you all my love Zo', as are the team."

This transitional phase has left fans expressing both concern for Zoe's wellbeing, reports the Mirror.

An insider told the MailOnline that "nobody knows what has happened but everyone loves Zoe". The source further expressed concern, stating: "We hope everything is okay. Zoe is so loved at the BBC so to not have her around is really noticeable."

Zoe had previously taken time off earlier this year due to a personal bereavement and health issues; her mum died in April after a battle with cancer, and she also underwent emergency dental surgery.
