Zoe doctor says 'eat between these times' as 'most diets don't work'
A doctor has explained that timing when you eat is just as important as what's on your plate when it comes to being healthy. Sarah Berry, chief scientist at Zoe, the health app co-founded by Professor Tim Spector, was speaking as part of a series of online tips.
Introducing the video, the Zoe Instagram account said: "With so much misleading health advice out there, it can be hard to know who to trust. So we’re cutting through the noise with seven science-backed tips from two world leaders in nutrition science, @drsarahberry and @tim.spector. These tips are grounded in the latest science and designed to help you thrive with simple changes you can make today."
In the second of the seven tips, posted on Monday, Dr Berry said: "Most people don't realise, but a healthy diet isn't just about what you eat, it's also about when you eat. Try time-restricted eating. In reality, the vast majority of diet plans simply don't work. Time-restricted eating, however, is different. Evidence suggests that sticking to an eating window can support your health.

"I recommend a 10-hour eating window. So, if you eat your first meal at 8am, make sure you finish your last food of the day by 6pm, but feel free to experiment. Find a window that works for you."
A professor at King's College London, Dr Berry has more than 20 years of nutrition research behind her. Prof Spector co-founded the nutrition advice company in 2017.
