Youtube personality Zoella is the most powerful social media star in Britain, according to a new list released today.
The 26-year-old, whose real name is Zoe Sugg, began her career by filming herself giving make-up tips in her bedroom in 2009. She now has 11.6 million YouTube subscribers, 7.64 million Twitter followers and 10.5 million on Instagram.
She also holds the record for being the fastest-selling debut author, with her 2014 book Girl Online selling 78,000 copies in its first week. She topped Heat magazine’s Hottest Influencer List, beating rapper and comedian KSI into second place and her brother Joe Sugg, 25, who posts videos of himself doing pranks and impressions to his 7.8 million YouTube subscribers, into third.
Her boyfriend Alfie Deyes, 23, who has uploaded a video diary every day since he was 15, came 10th.
Social media research firm Fizziology ranked influencers based on their social reach and average engagement across social platforms, as well as their cultural, political and social influence.
Professional gamer Dan Middleton, 25, placed fourth, with beauty expert Tanya Burr, 27, in fifth.
Other stars include model Iskra Lawrence, 26, at seventh and fashion and beauty vlogger Louise Pentland, 31, at eighth.
