Zombie Walk Hit-And-Run Driver Faces Charge

A man who seriously injured a woman when he ploughed his car through a crowd at a zombie walk in San Diego, California, is facing a felony charge, prosecutors say.

Matthew Pocci will be arraigned next month on a count of reckless driving causing bodily injury over the hit-and-run during the annual Comic-Con event last July.

The San Diego District Attorney's Office announced the charge against the 48-year-old.

Pocci said he inched through the crowd after children in his car became scared of people around the vehicle in zombie make-up.

As he sounded his horn and drove forward, some of the pedestrians surrounded the car and smashed the windscreen, said police.

Pocci, who is deaf, then sped away - knocking over a 64-year-old woman who fell under the car.

His lawyer said even police had admitted the driver was scared after being "swarmed".

Pocci is suing the city, claiming police did not adequately supervise the zombie walk.
