Zombies invade London as Walking Dead celebrates 100th episode

A hoard of zombies startled commuters after descending on London and even taking a ride on the Tube.

The stunt, which saw a group of actors dressed in ripped clothing and covered in blood, was staged to celebrate The Walking Dead’s 100th episode on Monday morning.

The zombies could be seen staggering alongside the Thames and even piled on unsuspecting pedestrians mimicking the feeding frenzies seen in the hit AMC dystopian drama.

The stunt took Londoners by surprise with many heading to social media to express their confusion.

One Twitter user wrote: “London commute with Zombies! Normal Monday,” while another posted: “peak London walking into 100 zombies on my way to work”.

Some even shared selfies with the zombies, with blogger Globetrotter G writing: “So walked along Charing Cross station earlier only to be met by 100 Zombies! And one of them had a selfie with me”.

The 100th episode, which coincided with the start of the show’s eighth series, saw main character Rick Grimes face off against his nemesis Negan.

Ex-sheriff Grimes and his band of survivors staged several explosions intended to attract zombies as part of their battle plan against Negan.

The episode featured a series of flash forward scenes that hinted at Grimes’ future as an old man.

UK fans of the series can watch the series 8 premiere on Monday, October 23 at 9pm on Fox.

It will also be available to watch on demand via Sky Go after the episode airs.
