Phillip Schofield has been snapped laughing alongside Dec Donnelly in new photos. It comes amid rumours Phil could be making a huge comeback to screens, following his public ITV exit.

The former This Morning star has kept out of the public spotlight since stepping down from the ITV show last year. The 62-year-old was embroiled in controversy after he admitted to having an 'unwise but not illegal' affair with a younger male showrunner.

However, the scandal seems to be a thing of the past for Phil, who was all smiles as he headed out on a dog walk with I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! host Dec and his wife, Ali Astall.

The former ITV star has even been tipped to appear on the next series Down Under according to OK! Magazine, which is hosted by Dec and Geordie TV sidekick Ant Mcpartlin.

In photos obtained by the publication, Phil was casually sporting a pair of black jeans and a grey quarter zip jumper that had been thrown over a basic white t-shirt. He was carrying a black rucksack, which was slung over his shoulder as he laughed whilst chatting to Dec.

Declan, who was wearing a pair of black trousers and a black body warmer, appeared to be laughing alongside the former This Morning host as they engaged in deep conversation.

"Phillip is not the same since being away from TV, it's what he's done all his life and all he's ever wanted to do. There is talk that Ant and Dec are keen to get him on I'm A Celeb," a source told OK!

It wouldn't be far out of the realm of possibilites for Phil to sign up for the reality show following a public scandal. Former health secretary Matt Hancock appeared in the 2022 series following outrage from Covid.

Seann Walsh also took part in the same series, four years after he was involved in a cheating row during BBC's Strictly Come Dancing.

Phillip, who fronted This Morning for 21 years before his exit, is reportedly keen to return to television despite keeping a low profile over the past year.

The source continued: "Phillip's very much looking for a TV comeback and to do it in the right way, he's always got on with both Ant and Dec, they've had a long friendship. Many think the jungle would be the best move for Phillip to get his career back on track. A lot of stars have gone on there when their luck is down and they want to get their side across.

"Matt Hancock did very well despite the country's feelings towards him, so they're thinking that Phillip could do something similar. Dec has said to Phillip that this 'could be his way back in' and they know it would pull high ratings for the show too. ITV would have him back for it because they know it would be good for the show, but they wouldn't have him back as a presenter."
