    The cave – named the Great Pit – is deeper than France’s Eiffel Tower and is one of the largest vertical caves ever discovered in the world. The cave’s formal name will be Gran Pozo MTDE, in honour of a local climbing firm that supplied all the caving equipment for the descent.
