A couple have received a Christmas card from an old friend despite the address simply saying “somewhere near the sea in Suffolk”.

Antony Wren, 42, and his wife Sarah, who live Lowestoft, received the post from a former colleague who did not have their address.

Written on the envelope was the note: “Good luck with that postie.”

Wren said he was particularly delighted by how quickly the card managed to arrive.

“It took four days to reach us… really quite impressive,” he told the BBC.

“In July 2013 we moved up to Lowestoft and sent out our new address in Christmas cards,” he said.

“Obviously some of those cards must’ve gone missing and our friend and ex-colleague clearly has lost our new address but remembered we were moving to somewhere near the sea in Suffolk.”

In a tweet to Royal Mail and the Post Office he said: “Thanks so much! Just received this Christmas card from lost friends, reuniting us after losing contact years ago”

In another tweet he added: “You are truly awesome! You delivered this to us in just 4 days. Reuniting old friends after years apart!”

According to the stamp, the card was sorted at the Royal Mail centre in Croydon.
