Plagiarism is a bit of a taboo subject within the music industry. Some say it is unavoidable since there are only so many notes on a piano and chord shapes on a guitar. But others will swear blind that using a riff, melody, or tone of another artist’s song is stealing, ripping, robbing and thiefing and is unequivocally wrong. Either way, it can take years and even decades for a jury to decide who is right and so many warring musicians settle out of court. Take a look at these big name artists whose names of have been dragged through the dirt after they were accused of stealing music. It can be hard finding stuff to spend your money on when you’ve been selling albums by the shed load, but Double Grammy award-winner Ed Sheeran found just the thing at a charity auction recently. The pig sculpture, otherwise known as Ed Sheer-Ham (groan), was one of 39 larger-than-life pig sculptures that were auctioned off in aid of St Elizabeth Hospice in Suffolk last week.
In case you had forgotten, at the end of last year Ed Sheeran announced that he will be taking a break from life and it was time for him to shy away from the public eye for a bit. Following the release of Adele’s huge comeback single ‘Hello’, the Internet made countless memes about the fact that the mum-of-one was still using a flip-phone in the music video, and when Ed mentioned that he’d bought an old Motorola flip she thought that he was making a dig at her. According to The Hollywood Reporter, his character will be “an ambitious and deadly protégé of a high-ranking church elder.” The show itself is being billed as a “blood-soaked medieval epic that tells the story of a 14th century warrior whose life is forever changed when a divine messenger beseeches him to lay down his sword and lead the life of a journeyman executioner.” Copyright Okay, we’ll be honest here. The singer, who recorded a cover of Foy Vance’s ‘Make It Rain’ for the season finale of Sons of Anarchy, actually teased the role earlier this year.
