Massive, massive congratulations to Call the Midwife star Victoria Yeates who has just got engaged to her sumptuously beared beau Paul Housden! Hurrah! The 33-year-old actress, who plays Sister Winifred in the show, was taking a break from the set in South Africa while filming the Christmas special. It may only be April, but we’re already getting all excited about the Christmas period thanks to a certain Miranda Hart and her role on Call The Midwife. If, like us, you’re an avid viewer of the brilliant show, you’ll know that Miranda, who has played Camilla ‘Chummy’ Fortescue-Cholmeley-Browne since 2012, has been away for a little while having taken time off for other work commitments. This is where our festive excitement comes in, as it’s been confirmed that Chummy will give us one heck of a Christmas present when she returns to the show for this year’s Christmas special, before making a permanent return for series six in 2017.
The ever-wonderful, totally hilarious Miranda Hart has announced that she’s written her second book - this time, about her canine best friend, Peggy. ‘Peggy and Me’ is billed as a ‘hilarious account of her life with her close companion Peggy, a gorgeous white bichon frise’, looking at how ‘love quickly blossomed’ between the sitcom star, who was initially suspicious of dog owners, and her pet pooch nine years ago. Speaking about her upcoming second book, Miranda said: “I am so thrilled to be given the chance to write a second book, and I look forward to introducing Peggy to the world and telling you about the many comic adventures we have found ourselves on as well as sharing the life lessons I have learnt from her.
In case you didn’t already know, tonight (Friday 9th October) sees a bunch of celebrities sitting on their own sofas and watching TV for a very special Celebrity Gogglebox in aid of Stand Up To Cancer. If celebrities can sit on the sofa eating snacks and discussing Peter Andre’s dance moves, SO CAN WE. After last year’s celeb special saw the likes of Naomi Campbell, Noel Gallagher and Kate Moss settling down for a cosy night in, Channel 4 are once again rolling out the red, er, sofa cover for a star-filled Gogglebox.
