UK weather maps sizzle with 25C Iberian plume stretching 600 miles

Newly-released UK weather maps show potentially 'the start of summer' with a 25C Iberian plume on the way next week. June is already past the half-way mark, and it has been feeling more like the unsettled weather from October and November.

But that is set to all change according to Netweather's latest maps. They indicate from June 24 to June 30, Brits can expect warmer temperatures. The highest temperatures are expected in the far north and south of the UK on June 25. On June 24, however, cities such as Manchester, Liverpool, Doncaster, and Sheffield will be reaching a much-welcomed 24C.

On June 25, London and Inverness are forecast to be the hottest places in the UK at 25C. Cities and towns in the Midlands and Yorkshire will still enjoy 23C and 24C of sunshine, reports the Express. Temperatures are predicted to be slightly lower in Wales and other coastal areas. Cornish towns can expect 16C to 20C, while Wales will experience 17C to 20C of summer temperature.

In the north east, cities like Newcastle and Middlesbrough will see temperatures ranging from 21C to 23C as we approach the end of June. Towards the end of June, specifically on June 30, temperatures are expected to dip slightly, with highs of 24C anticipated in southern regions and 20C up north, particularly around major urban areas. Seaside towns and cities in the south and southeast are set to enjoy some of the warmest conditions outside of London.

However, despite the predicted rise in temperatures, the Met Office has issued a caution about potential unsettled weather as June draws to a close. Their long-range forecast, starting from June 21, indicates a shift from the recent settled weather to more unpredictable patterns: "Following a couple of days of largely fine and settled weather, a gradual transition to more changeable conditions from the Atlantic is likely to take place with periods of cloud, rain and stronger winds most often affecting the west and northwest."

The Met Office also highlighted the possibility of disruptive weather soon: "There remains a small chance of an area of heavy, thundery rain affecting parts of the south on Friday 21, possibly accompanied by briefly hot and humid conditions."

As June ends, it seems that changeable weather will continue to be the norm, especially in northern and western areas, while the south and east may experience more settled and dry spells. Overall, temperatures across the UK are expected to hover around or just above the average for this time of year.

Met Office five-day forecast

Expect a mix of sunshine and showers, though many areas will stay mostly dry, a contrast to the weekend's weather. Showers, potentially heavy and thundery, are more likely in eastern and northeastern parts, while the southwest should remain the driest.

Temperatures will feel somewhat warmer.

Tonight

The evening will see showers gradually easing, although some sporadic rain may persist over northern Scotland. With light winds and clear skies for many, there's a chance of patchy mist or fog.

Tuesday

A largely dry day with sunny spells for most. However, showers are likely across eastern Scotland and northeast England. Winds will be light and it'll feel pleasant in the sunshine. There's a slight chance of rain in the far southeast.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday

Expect fewer showers throughout this period, with sunny spells for the majority. Some rain may occur in the far north and possibly far southeast later on. It'll feel warmer in the sunshine as winds ease.
