With the Glastonbury Festival underway, music fans will be keeping an eye on the weather as they prepare for an epic weekend of celebration.

Music begins on the main Pyramid Stage on Friday, with Dua Lipa, Coldplay and Sza set to headline the main stage.

Away from the performances, one of the main issues on revellers’ minds will be whether there will be a washout or scorching heatwave to make camping conditions difficult.

Fortunately for those attending this year, neither is likely, according to the Met Office.

On Friday, South West England will be mostly dry, with sunny spells developing in the afternoon and a maximum temperature of 20C.

It will turn cloudier in the west by dawn on Saturday morning, with a minimum temperature of 10C.

Saturday will have bright or sunny spells throughout the day with a maximum temperature of 23C, and patchy drizzle arriving by late evening.

Sunday morning will see rain and drizzle easing, with more rain arriving by Monday.

Temperatures of 27C were felt on Wednesday as the first arrivals put up their tents.

Organiser Emily Eavis welcomed the first festival-goers to the event at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset, as the sun rose on another hot day in the UK.

However, fans arriving on Thursday faced the “odd spot of rain” – but conditions stayed mainly dry and sunny throughout the rest of the day.
