England Lose Late Wickets As Pakistan Fight Back In Abu Dhabi

England beat India to go 1-0 up in the One-Day International Series.

England beat India by 7 wickets at the Rose Bowl with impressive innings from Alastair Cook and Craig Kieswetter.

England were set a tough target by India as Ajingli Rahene and Suresh Raina powered India to 187 for 8.

The match had been reduced to 23 overs per side after bad weather delayed the start of the match.

Kieswetter hit four fours and three sixes before Vinay Kumar bowled him lbw.

Cook finished on 80 not out after building a partnership of 60 with Ravi Bopara which included a rare six from England's 50-over captain.

Cook's share contained five fours and his six from 63 balls.

The first game at Chester-le-Street was abandoned due to rain and this match looked likely to go the same way, before eventually getting under way at 7pm.

"It was a really good day," Cook said.

"First of all we have to thank the groundstaff, it was an amazing effort to get it ready and it was a great game of cricket.

"It was a bit frantic (in the field) but we restricted them to a total we could get. It was a decent score but we thought it was a par score if we played well.

"Craig played brilliantly at the top of the order and left us just having to milk it to get there.
